Pampam Falls
Location: Brgy. Dalipuga, Iligan City
Type and height:
Slide/15 meters*
Iligan is blessed to have countless of waterfalls. I have
visited three and I’m eager to explore even more. Now on my third day, I've
decided to explore Pampam Falls, Kalubihon Falls and Dalipuga falls which lies
on the same vicinity. One of the qualities that these waterfalls possess is also
their accessibility from the city proper.
First stop is Pampam falls. With a distance of just 13km., a
jeep ride, a habal-habal ride, and a short trek is all that will take for one
to have a dip on the refreshing waters of Pampam falls.
The trek is very straight forward. I was alone on the start
of the trek asking locals along the way if I was on the right path. In the
middle of nowhere a kid of 10 years old emerged and decided to join and assist me.
The trek is roughly 10-15 minutes thru coconut trees.
Pampam falls glides thru a half umbrella like rock formation
and meets the ground thru a man-made catch basin. A series of rocks piled up together surrounding the falls to minimize the flow of water thus creating a pool. A smart idea.
Refresh yourself!
How to get there:
1.)
From the city proper take a jeepney bound to
Dalipuga. Alight at the Kalubihon intersection (Php 13.00)
2.)
From the Kalubihon Crossing hire a habal-habal
and get off at Kalubihon Elementary School. Tell the driver that you’re heading
to Pampam falls. (Php 50.00)
3.)
Ask the locals where the trail starts. Follow
the main path as this will lead you to Pampam falls.
*There are minor forks on the trails. If you’re
not used to read trails it is best to ask a local to guide you. There is no fixed
rate for guiding; a generous tip is very welcome.
